Ski Mountaneering
The truest emotions we get from the mountains, the silence on the snowy peaks, the colours and breathtaking contrasts, the pure pleasure of skiing.
ki mountaineering in Val di Fiemme can be practised from November-December, when snow coverage is sufficient, until late Spring.
During the long winter months it is possible to ski in powder snow, facing remarkable differences in altitude and tracks that crisscross even the forest roads that are closed to traffic throughout the whole year.
The peaks are not extremely high, therefore in Spring it is suggested to leave quite early for a descent on firn.
We suggest 20 ITINERARIES described in great detail, that will take all ski mountaineering enthusiasts up to the most fascinating peaks encircling Val di Fiemme.

"This book has finally appeared after many
years of hard work and sacrifice dictated by my great passion for ski mountaineering born from discovering and admiring these beautiful mountains.
The aim of this guide book, is not only to publicise this area which by now is fully appreciated but also put down on paper all the experience I have patiently and constantly acquired over the years of working as a mountain guide as well as during personal excursions.
The idea of considering three different valleys bordering on each other in one single volume of 51 selected itineraries, aims to cover quite a vast and complex areaa. For this reason I have included different
types of itineraries to try to satisfy beginners as well as more experienced ski mountaineers.
The guide is full colours, detailed descriptions, maps of the itineraries and many pictures.

Scale of Difficulty BLANCHERE SCALE
MS: Medium skier - MSA: Medium ski-mountaineer
BS: Good skier - BSA: Good ski-mountaineer
OS: Very good skier - OSA: Very good ski-mountaineer
NB: Such classification cannot be easily applied to itineraries in which the most part is a descent and thus do not consider, as it should be in traditional ski mountaineering, the ascent to a mountain peak as the main aim of the excursion.
Even the gradient indication for the descent is a very reductive parameter in terms of the overall difficulty of an off-piste descent. For all these reasons a new two-parameter evaluation scale has been introduced: one describes the itinerary difficulty from a ski-technical point of view, the other considers how demanding and dangerous the descent actually is. The difficulty level of both ascent and descent is pointed out for every itinerary. Each of the two scales indicates the difficulty levels in ascending order, using a simple and accessible terminology.
